Ryder Scott believes great radio starts with a simple idea: be real, make people feel welcome, and never forget there’s a person on the other side of the speakers. As a longtime broadcaster and the General Manager of True Light Radio and The Country Heat, Ryder has spent years around radio, music, and the people who make both possible. His career has given him experience on both sides of the microphone, but being on the air remains one of his favorite parts of the job. Ryder is a husband and a dad to grown children, and family is an important part of his life. Those years of raising a family have given him plenty of stories, perspective, and more than a few lessons about how rarely life follows the plan you had in mind. He has an easy sense of humor and isn’t afraid to laugh at himself when he’s the reason the plan went sideways. What makes Ryder a little unusual is that he genuinely feels at home in two very different musical worlds. On W. F. C. D. Digital ONE, True Light Radio, listeners know Ryder as an encouraging and familiar voice who brings warmth, faith, and perspective to the day. He believes Christian music can meet people exactly where they are, and his approach has always been less about preaching at someone and more about offering encouragement, sharing life, and reminding listeners that hope is never far away. Then there’s another side of Ryder. On W. F. C. D. Digital TWO, The Country Heat, he trades the Contemporary Christian soundtrack for today’s hottest country as host of The Drive. Ryder brings the same genuine personality with him, but the conversation can head just about anywhere — family, music, something happening in everyday life, a story that made him laugh, or whatever happens to be on his mind that day. For Ryder, those aren’t two different personalities. They’re different parts of the same person. Away from the microphone, Ryder enjoys spending time with his family, keeping up with technology, getting behind the wheel for a good drive, and working on ideas that have a habit of turning into much bigger projects than originally intended. He’s naturally curious, always thinking about what could be done better, and rarely satisfied with doing something a certain way simply because that’s how it’s always been done. Whether he’s offering a little encouragement on True Light Radio or turning up another hit on The Country Heat, Ryder’s approach stays the same: be genuine, enjoy the music, and make the person listening feel like they’re part of the conversation. Hear Ryder Scott across W. F. C. D. Networks on True Light Radio and The Country Heat.
